Suggestions needed for working with Sony PXW-X160 XAVC files in Edius Pro
“Hi, all, I am looking for suggestions on a XAVC workflow with Edius Pro. Recently I’ve received a Sony PXW-Z90 camera which records footage in XAVC codec in MXF format. I intend to edit these XAVC files in Edius Pro, but it seems that the Edius Pro doesn’t recognize XAVC footage as import. I know that the most recent EDIUS Pro 7 has support for XAVC and HD, but there’s no go on Edius Pro system. How can I get the XAVC files to import into the Edius Pro? I really appreciate any help. Thanks.”
If you don’t want to upgrade to the latest EDIUS Pro 9, you will need to transcode Sony PXW-X160 XAVC files to a format that is suited for editing in EDIUS Pro, like WMV, MOV, DNxHD and more. This requires 3rd party program like UFUShare Video Converter for Windows or Mac. It seems to be the best method of converting Sony PXW-X160 XAVC files to EDIUS editable files.
